Hi Clairemont Democrats!
There are a number of Clairemont residents sounding the alarm on redistricting.
At the last meeting of the City of San Diego’s Independent Redistricting Commission, they ended with a map that draws Clairemont into 4 DISTRICTS (image above)! This proposed map would split us — unlike any other community in the city — into portions of Council Districts 1, 2, 6, and 7.
This is abysmal, and we need to organize and start providing feedback to the Independent Redistricting Commission, including at their next commission meeting this Thursday, October 28th at 5:30pm. Information for their next meeting can be found here.
There is an alternate proposal (image below) supported by the Clairemont Town Council and many members of the Clairemont community below, which would unite our community in a single council district.

If you support the alternate plan as shown above, follow the directions below to show your support for keeping our community together! And ask other Clairemonters who care about this community to do the same.
- Step 1: Click on San Diego Redistricting Public Comment Portal
- Step 2: Once you’re in the portal, click the green button “A Districting Plan”
- Step 3: Scroll down to Submission Form and click District Plan
- Step 4: Copy the URL link into the box labeled Districtr Plan:
https://districtr.org/plan/68527?portal - Step 5: After the link has been pasted, fill out the rest of the form (please include your comments) and then click submit.
Thank you, and let’s make some noise on redistricting and unify our community!
