We will be hosting our guest speaker Assemblymember Chris Ward, who now represents all of Clairemont in the 78th Assembly District, and was recently named as Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore.

Also, we will be conducting elections for our club’s executive board. The slate of candidates that were presented to our club at our previous meeting, include:

On Tuesday, July 12th at 7:00pm join us for a virtual meeting as we consider an endorsement for Proposition 1 — the Constitutional Amendment that our Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins shepherded to the ballot that will enshrine reproductive rights into our California Constitution.

We will also review the six other propositions on the ballot, including:

• Prop 26: Authorizes New Type of Gambling.
• Prop 27: Allows Online and Mobile Sports Wagering.
• Prop 28: Additional Funding for Arts and Music Education in Public Schools.
• Prop 29: Requires On-Site Licensed Medical Professional at Dialysis Clinics
• Prop 30: Funding for Programs to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions By Increasing Tax on Personal Income Over $2 Million.
• Prop 31: Referendum Challenging Prohibiting Retail Sale of Certain Flavored Tobacco Products

Join us for an exciting joint club meeting the U City Democratic Club on Monday, April 4th at 6:30pm — this will be an all-virtual club meeting.

We have been trying to schedule our San Diego Unified School District Trustee Sabrina Bazzo for one of our meetings. Unfortunately, the San Diego Unified meetings are usually the same night as our Clairemont Dems meetings.

Thanks to Shaina Tigar, newly elected U City Dems President, we’ve been able to schedule Trustee Bazzo for a joint meeting between our clubs. There has been a lot of exciting changes at our San Diego schools, so this is your opportunity to hear directly from our elected trustee.

U City Dems members will be voting on a package of criminal justice bills presented by Team Justice Coalition at their last meeting. You can review their priority bills here.

Social time starts at 6:00pm and their meeting formally begins at 6:30pm.

As announced at our last meeting, we will conduct executive board elections and consider friendly incumbent endorsements for County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and Community College Trustee Maria Nieto Senour. Also, we will consider an endorsement for State Senate District 38, and our California Democratic Party’s endorsed slate for statewide offices — the state party will announce their endorsements for statewide offices the weekend before our meeting.
