Clairemont Democratic Club

America's Finest Democrats. In the Heart of San Diego!

Next Club Meeting: Tuesday, June 8

Hi, Clairemont Democrats!

Join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, June 8th @ 7:00pm for our next Clairemont Democratic Club meeting!

We will hear a presentation on Medicare for All from local Democratic activists Maz Hadaegh and Emily Olanoff. Thank you to club member Morey Rahimi for helping to organize this month’s presentation.

Please register for our next meeting here.

Also, thank you to our club members for standing strong in opposition to the attempted recall of our own City Council President Dr. Jen Campbell.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported this week that recall enthusiasts failed to submit enough signatures falling thousands short of the threshold needed, and the U-T’s Editorial Board opined that the effort was wrong from the start.

Our San Diego County Democratic Party also opposed the recall attempt, as did this club.

Now’s the time to move forward and shift our collective focus to flipping District 6 blue in 2022!

Finally, if you’re new to our club, welcome home!

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

We are looking forward to ending 2020, and want to wish all of you a very safe and celebratory Happy New Year!

Our first club meeting of 2021 will be held on Tuesday, January 12th at 7:00pm via Zoom, and we are excited to welcome our County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher as a guest speaker. Supervisor Fletcher will provide a legislative update and address our region’s ongoing fight to battle COVID-19.

Please register for our next club meeting here.

Also, we want to give a shout out to our club’s past president Stephen Groce who was elected to the FBI Citizens Academy Board of Directors. Congratulations Steph!

Let’s all move forward with the hope and optimism that 2021 and a fresh start can bring to all of us!

Clairemont Dems Holiday Hangout: Tuesday, December 8

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday last week — and now that we are getting into December, we’re about ready to wrap up this year!

Join us next Tuesday, December 8th at 7:00pm for a Clairemont Dems Holiday Hangout on Zoom.

No formal agenda, although our newly-elected school board member Sabrina Bazzo would like to stop by and speak with us. Hopefully, I’ll figure out how to best play copyright free holiday tunes in the background. Absent a traditional holiday party, this is the best we can do, but we’ll make the best of it!

Please register at this Zoom link

Next month, we’ll hear from Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, likely about the county’s up-to-date status in battling COVID-19, as well as legislative priorities now that Democrats have flipped the majority on the Board of Supervisors.

Unfortunately with coronavirus cases continuing to rise throughout the holidays, please be safe and take care of the people around you! We’ll get through this together.

See y’all next Tuesday!

Club Meeting: Tuesday, November 10

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

Reminder about our monthly club meeting set for next Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm over Zoom.

Please register for the Zoom meeting here.

This will be our first club meeting post-Election. We are still working on scheduling speakers and/or presentation on the results from the election. We’ll update this with more information this weekend.

See y’all on Tuesday!

Club Meeting: Tuesday, October 13

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

Hi everyone!

We want to invite you to our last Clairemont Dems meeting before the election. Save the date — we’ll be meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:00pm.

Please register for the Zoom meeting here.

Our two featured speakers will be our San Diego Democratic Party Chair Will Rodriguez-Kennedy who will give us an update on our local Democratic Party’s efforts to elect Democrats across the county, and we’ll hear from San Diego County Biden Organizer Cynara Velazquez Kidwell who will give our club members information on how to best help elect Joe Biden.

Special Club Meeting: Wednesday, September 23

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

We want to invite you to a special club meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00pm. Save the date!

Please register for the Zoom meeting here.

Although we just endorsed Tim Nader for Superior Court Judge, he wasn’t able to make it to our meeting due to a scheduling conflict. However, he’s promised to stop by this special meeting and let us know more about his campaign.

Also, as noticed at last night’s meeting, our club has traditionally made endorsement recommendations on those races that will appear on our ballots specifically in Clairemont. There are two such races that we have yet made endorsement recommendations in: San Diego Mayor and San Diego Unified School Board District A.

We have heard from, and asked questions to, both Democratic mayoral candidates so all we will need to do is vote on an endorsement recommendation. For San Diego Mayor, our endorsement consideration will include both candidates and No Endorsement as an option.

For San Diego Unified District A, Sabrina Bazzo is the only Democratic candidate left running, and her opponent is endorsed by Trump’s Republican Party. We’ve invited Sabrina to speak to us about her campaign and answer questions from our club, but our endorsement consideration for this will be an up-or-down vote since she’s our only Democratic candidate left.

These two races should conclude our club’s endorsement considerations for the year, so all that will be left for us to do is GET OUT THE VOTE for our Democratic ticket!
