Hello Clairemont Democratic Club Members,

For our upcoming virtual meeting on September 12th at 7:00pm, we will make decisions on key elections including the November Special Election for Board of Supervisor’s District 4. Make your voice heard!

We will consider an official endorsement for Monica Montgomery Steppe, and consider an endorsement in the open State Senate District 39 seat (Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins is termed out).

Also, we will consider friendly incumbent endorsements for Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, Assemblymember Chris Ward, and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria!

Finally, we will hear a presentation on membership growth from Fallbrook Democratic Club President Ross Pike.

Hi Clairemont Democrats,

Join us for our next club meeting on Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00pm in-person at Denny’s Clairemont Town Square. Address is 4280 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92117.

We will be hosting our guest speaker Assemblymember Chris Ward, who now represents all of Clairemont in the 78th Assembly District, and was recently named as Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore.

Also, we will be conducting elections for our club’s executive board. The slate of candidates that were presented to our club at our previous meeting, include:

• President: Nicole Crosby
• Vice President: Rhoda Quate
• Secretary: Ryan Trabuco
• Treasurer: Indroneal Banerjee

Although nominations will be open from the floor, only candidates in good standing will be eligible to serve.

On Tuesday, July 12th at 7:00pm join us for a virtual meeting as we consider an endorsement for Proposition 1 — the Constitutional Amendment that our Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins shepherded to the ballot that will enshrine reproductive rights into our California Constitution.

We will also review the six other propositions on the ballot, including:

• Prop 26: Authorizes New Type of Gambling.
• Prop 27: Allows Online and Mobile Sports Wagering.
• Prop 28: Additional Funding for Arts and Music Education in Public Schools.
• Prop 29: Requires On-Site Licensed Medical Professional at Dialysis Clinics
• Prop 30: Funding for Programs to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions By Increasing Tax on Personal Income Over $2 Million.
• Prop 31: Referendum Challenging Prohibiting Retail Sale of Certain Flavored Tobacco Products

Join us on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00pm for (maybe?) our last virtual meeting before we resume in-person meetings. Our goal is to have one of our first in-person meetings after the June 7th Primary.

The month of May honors Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. AAPI Democratic Club President Dr. Indroneal Banerjee will present an updated look at Stop AAPI Hate over the last year.
