Clairemont Democrats,
On your November ballot, there will be retention elections for two Associate Justices of the California Supreme Court. One of those Associate Justices is Carol Corrigan.
She is a Schwarzenegger appointee from 2005. Back in 2008, the state of California successfully overturned a marriage ban for same-sex couples. Associate Justice Carol Corrigan was one of three judges who dissented. Then, Justice Corrigan ruled in favor of sustaining Prop 8 as the law of the land in the historic Strauss v. Horton case that deemed it unconstitutional. If she is retained, she will be able to serve another 12-year term on the California Supreme Court — that means she won’t be back in front of voters until 2030!
We are proud to stand with our friends at the San Diego Democrats for Equality in asking voters to vote NO on Carol Corrigan.
