Clairemont Democratic Club

America's Finest Democrats. In the Heart of San Diego!

Special Endorsement Meeting: Thursday, January 27th

UPDATE January 22nd: We had previously announced an endorsement consideration for San Diego County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk, however due to candidate unavailability we will not consider an endorsement for that race at this time.

Hi Clairemont Democrats!

At Tuesday’s meeting, we announced that we will be holding a special endorsement meeting later this month on Thursday, January 27th at 7:00pm. Different day, but same time as our regular meetings.

We will be considering 3 endorsements at this special meeting:

  • Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (Friendly Incumbent)
  • Assemblymember Chris Ward (Friendly Incumbent)
  • San Diego City Council District 6

Register for our virtual Special Meeting for January 27th here!

Also, now that we are in a brand new year, it’s that time to renew your club memberships!

Finally, if you’re new to our club, welcome home!

Next Club Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 14th (Election Day!)

Hi, Clairemont Democrats!

Join us for our next club meeting on Tuesday, September 14th at 7:00pm — this will be an all-virtual club meeting. As much as we would like to try more hybrid-type meetings, the alarming rise in the Delta variant COVID cases are worrisome.

Register for our virtual September meeting here!

Since our previous meeting was pre-emptied by an all-hands-on-deck meeting of our local Democratic Party, we will welcome Janessa Goldbeck to present a resolution to ban ‘ghost guns’ — unregistered, unregulated, untraceable firearms that can be 3D-printed and manufactured. Clairemont Democratic Club will take a position on the resolution being presented. Here is the text of the resolution.

The recall election is this same night, so we will also check out election returns as they come in for the remainder of the evening.

Remember to VOTE NO before Tuesday, September 14th!

Finally, if you’re new to our club, welcome home!

Next Club Meeting: Tuesday, August 10

Hi Clairemont Democrats,

Join us for our next club meeting on Tuesday, August 10th at 7:00pm — this will be an all-virtual club meeting. As much as we would like to try more hybrid-type meetings, the alarming rise in the Delta variant COVID cases are worrisome.

Register for our virtual August meeting here!

We will welcome our San Diego County Democratic Party Chair Will Rodriguez-Kennedy as a guest speaker to speak about the fast-approaching recall election.

Be sure to double check your voter registration, and make sure everything is up-to-date. Absentee ballots for the recall election will be mailed out the week of August 16th — just 3 weeks away!

The recall election is Tuesday, September 14th, and remember to vote NO!

Recall Election: Vote NO September 14th!

Hi Clairemont Democrats!

It was announced that the Republican-backed effort to recall Governor Gavin Newsom has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 14th — coincidentally, this is the same night as our regularly-scheduled club meeting in September which means we might spend the evening watching the election returns roll in.

A couple of months ago, our club members voted to oppose this dumb AF recall election, and the California Democratic Party is opposed as well.

The timing of the election means that absentee ballots could drop as early as mid-August — literally, next month! As volunteer opportunities are announced to oppose the recall, we’ll let you know when and where they are.

Finally, we will be having a club meeting on Tuesday, July 13th at 7:00pm — we are working on logistics this weekend to determine if it will be a hybrid meeting or a virtual-only meeting.

For now, here’s the Zoom registration link!

Finally, if you’re new to our club, welcome home!

Next Club Meeting: Tuesday, June 8

Hi, Clairemont Democrats!

Join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, June 8th @ 7:00pm for our next Clairemont Democratic Club meeting!

We will hear a presentation on Medicare for All from local Democratic activists Maz Hadaegh and Emily Olanoff. Thank you to club member Morey Rahimi for helping to organize this month’s presentation.

Please register for our next meeting here.

Also, thank you to our club members for standing strong in opposition to the attempted recall of our own City Council President Dr. Jen Campbell.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported this week that recall enthusiasts failed to submit enough signatures falling thousands short of the threshold needed, and the U-T’s Editorial Board opined that the effort was wrong from the start.

Our San Diego County Democratic Party also opposed the recall attempt, as did this club.

Now’s the time to move forward and shift our collective focus to flipping District 6 blue in 2022!

Finally, if you’re new to our club, welcome home!

Club Meeting: February 11

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

Join us for our next club meeting next Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00pm inside Elijah’s Restaurant (7061 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego 92111).

We welcome our very own District 2 City Councilmember Dr. Jen Campbell as our guest speaker. Last week, Councilmember Campbell provided her first State of the District and for those were unable to attend the event, we’re sure she’ll give us a City Hall update and offer some thoughts on her first full-year as a city councilmember.

Also, with election day coming up soon, we’ll hear from those candidates running for the County Democratic Central Committee in Assembly Districts 77 and 78. There are six candidates who are elected per Assembly District to the Central Committee, which serves as the governing body for the San Diego County Democratic Party.
