Assembly District Elections (ADEMs) are happening throughout the month of January. ADEMs are held every two years to elect Assembly District Delegates to the California Democratic Party’s State Central Committee.

14 delegates (7 self-identified females, and 7 self-identified males) and 1 executive board representative are elected per Assembly District.

Clairemont is split between both the 77th and 78th Assembly Districts. If you’re not sure which district you live in, please check this website.

Dr. Jen WINS! Let’s Celebrate Next Tuesday!

Hello, Clairemont Democrats!

Fellow club members — SHE DID IT!

Our own Dr. Jen did the impossible, the improbable, and defeated Trump Republican Lorie Zapf, and it wasn’t even close!

With 100% of precincts reporting, Jen Campbell won by 12 points!

On behalf of the Clairemont Democratic Club, a club that you helped get off the ground several years ago, we are so proud of you! Congratulations!

Given all of the other results, we can review those successes and celebrate those victories at our next club meeting on Tuesday, November 13th. We have invited Andy Keatts with Voice of San Diego to discuss some of the big election results locally.

See you next Tuesday!

If you have suggestions or ideas about meeting topics or event types that you’d like us to host, please email them to me or visit our Facebook page.

If you would like to join, or renew your club membership ($20 dues), please do so on our membership page. You may also renew at the meeting. Or, if you would prefer to mail a check, here is our PO Box information:

It is our shared responsibility to ensure that people are informed, educated, and not mystified by stage craft, economic bribery or the feeling of helplessness. We have so many exciting things in store for our Clairemont Democratic Club members. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at one (but hopefully all) of our meetings and events.

2016 Victory Party: November 8

westin-gaslampAs a reminder, there is no club meeting this month since it falls on Election Day!

Instead, we will be gathering with the San Diego County Democratic Party in Downtown San Diego at the Westin Gaslamp Horton Plaza at 910 Broadway Circle, San Diego, CA 92101. The party starts at 8:15pm, so keep working to elect our Democratic candidates until that time!

Finally, there will be no club meeting in December. We will be celebrating the holidays with fellow Democratic clubs at a joint Holiday Party on Sunday, December 11 in the afternoon, so mark your calendars accordingly! More details to follow post-election!

June 7, 2016 Primary Election Info!

ballot-voting-endorseBefore you fill-out your ballots, check out our club’s June 7, 2016 Primary Election endorsements.

For a comprehensive list of other recommendations for other offices and propositions, here’s a link to the San Diego County Democratic Party’s Voter Guide.

If you are an absentee ballot voter, be sure to mail back your ballot early, or drop it off at the county Registrar of Voters office (5600 Overland Ave, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92123).

The earlier you vote, the earlier you will be taken off the contact lists of campaigns — this means less phone calls and canvassers to deal with as the election gets closer!

Club Endorsements: August 2015

Hey, Clairemont Democrats!

At our August 11 meeting, the club unanimously endorsed Todd Gloria and Scott Peters for their upcoming elections in 2016.

Councilmember Todd Gloria is running for State Assembly

Councilmember Todd Gloria is running for State Assembly

Todd Gloria is a Clairemont native who is running for State Assembly in the 78th Assembly District to replace termed-out Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins. Todd’s exemplary record as a member of the San Diego City Council and as interim Mayor, coupled with his stellar passion for infrastructure, affordable housing, and homelessness will serve him well as an advocate for our city, region, and California.

Congressman Scott Peters is running for re-election in 2016

Congressman Scott Peters has fought for our district, but has had several close elections against Tea Party extermists — beating Brian Bilbray in 2012, and winning re-election against Carl DeMaio in 2014. His professionalism, exemplary congressional staff, and winning record on the environment, women’s health, and veterans issues have proven formidable in the swing 52nd Congressional District. Scott is America’s Finest Congressman, and we’re proud to support his re-election!

If you’d like to join the Clairemont Democratic Club, or attend one of our meetings, we meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Boomerangs (4577 Clairemont Drive, San Diego, CA 92117). Remember to order food and/or drink if at all possible. The owners of Boomerang’s are great Democrats, and they deserve our business and support.
